Description

During a conventional paving process, pavement is constructed with vertical or near vertical edges. Depending on the severity of the drop, it can create an unsafe environment for motorists. Even just a 2-inch drop between the roadway and the shoulder can be hazardous.

But, if the SafetyEdge is applied along the roadway, the vertical edge of the pavement gets shaped and compacted into a smooth slope. The SafetyEdge’s 30-degree angle helps save lives and mitigate pavement edge drop crashes.

This course is intended for a variety of positions within local agencies and tribal governments, with an emphasis on design and construction personnel who specify and construct the SafetyEdge. Training includes:
•	Introduction and SafetyEdge Basics
•	Construction on Asphalt Concrete Pavements or Overlays
•	Construction on Portland Cement Concrete Pavements or Overlays
•	Highlights from Case Study Field Reports
